It’s hot outside – don’t let your body overheat.

The summer months and true heat rolls in, along with camping trips, hiking, swimming and all of those outdoor wonders with family and friends. Who wants to be sick? Definitely. Not. Me.

It’s so important to be well and on your A-game – ready for any adventure. So I like to take some extra steps to keeping healthy during the summer months.

Here are my top 3 tips to supporting your immunity and stay healthy throughout the summer months. 

1. Eat well, eat colourful, and eat fresh.

Fresh colourful foods are essential to maintain health, maintain nutrient levels and keep you feeling fresh and radiant.  Throughout spring and summer, there are most likely a local farmers market nearby where you can pick up all kinds of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers… and so much more. 

Shopping local gives you so much variety and the most nourished harvest. By doing this, you are also supporting your local community, which is awesome!

2. Stay hydrated. 

This is probably the MOST important one. If you are dehydrated your body suffers and isn’t able to carry out its normal day to day functions as well. Throughout summer, it is extra important to make sure that you are filling your body with water and electrolytes. Whether you’re playing sports or taking a refreshing walk, your body will inevitably lose fluids due to the heat. 

The average person needs to drink 2-3 litres of water a day to stay hydrated and help their body out. 

How do I remember?

  • Put your phone on top or under your water bottle.  That way when you grab your phone, you’ll remember to drink.
  • Actually have a water bottle with you always.
  • Have an accountability buddy that will remind you. 
  • Get an app. There are many apps out there that remind you to drink water, or simply set up reminders in your phone at 30 minute intervals to remind you to have a sip of water.
